GREEN TARA:
Tara is a fully enlightened Buddha, her enlightened activities are numerous and
powerful beyond comprehension. At a relative level, she is associated with
conferring blessings of obstacle-clearing, longevity, prosperity, protection and
so forth. At an ultimate level, she confers all the wisdoms for the realization
of the ultimate state of Buddhahood. There are many aspects of Tara, of which
the 21-Tara emanations perform different activities and confer swift blessings
of health, prosperity, success and power and so forth. Tara’s colour also
corresponds to each enlightened activity as mentioned above - White Tara for
pacifying; Yellow Tara for increasing; Red Tara for subjugating; and Green Tara
for wrathful activity.
During the dharma degenerating times, where the occurrence of various diseases
and natural disasters begins to frequent, the Green Tara practice is most
beneficial for all sentient beings. The Green Tara practice can help sentient
beings avoid and avert such calamities and overcome these obstacles, and is the
most effective practice for all during this time.
Green Tara is a very swift and powerful deity of activity who clears our
obstacles, and helps us successfully accomplish both temporal and ultimate
happiness. By engaging in her practice, one will be able to dispel black magic,
charms, & disturbances from the formless as well as prevent diseases and harm to
oneself. It can also boost one’s spiritual growth & other aspects – career &
academic studies.
When we are young we turn to our worldly mother for help. She protects us from
immediate dangers, provides us with all our temporal needs, and guides and
encourages us in our learning and personal development. In the same way, during
our spiritual growth we need to turn to our Holy Mother, Tara, for refuge. She
protects us from all internal and external dangers, she provides us with all the
necessary conditions for our spiritual training, and she guides us and inspires
us with her blessings as we progress along the spiritual path. If we rely upon
Mother Tara sincerely and with strong faith she will protect us from all
obstacles and fulfill all our wishes.
