About the Lam Rim text: Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand – A concise discourse on the path of enlightenment. Amongst the many different Lam Rim teachings, Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand is known to be one of the most concise and comprehensive version. This text is a classic guide for the study, practice, and realization of Buddhist teachings, and is one of the most fundamental texts of Tibetan Buddhism. Authored by legendary teacher Pabongka Rinpoche, he gave a twenty-four day teaching to a mass gathering of monks, nuns, and laypeople which was a complete synthesis of all the Buddha’s teachings. This book contains most of the famous teaching stories of Tibetan Buddhism.

Lam Rim text that we are studying:
LIBERATION IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND

“The important thing is to make some effort to subdue the mind, and to make some
effort to reduce the afflictions. Definitely there is a method and there is a path, and
it is very good for us to engage that method or that path. The text which we have
chosen which is the Lam Rim text called – “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” is
an excellent path, an excellent method, an excellent tool, that will allow us to subdue
our mind and reduce our afflictions.

“Liberation” is referring to Buddhahood, attaining the state of a Buddha. And “in the
palm of your hand” indicates something that is actually easy to put into practice,
like an object that is easy to hold in your hand. So this is a Lam Rim text that leads
to liberation, and it shows you the path which is very easy to engage and implement.”
