The Secret Hayagriva is a wrathful manifestation of Chenrezig, Kuan Yin. This puja practice is an extremely powerful means to pacify vast obstacles caused by spirits, and cure diseases caused by naga harms such as cancer and skin diseases. This ritual is very powerful, with swift efficacy to drive away spirit harms, supernatural harassments and destroy black magic spells. This puja is one of the most elaborate large-scale ritual - the offerings prepared are inconceivably vast and aplenty, including a huge majestic palace, servants, foods, luxuries, jewellery, beautiful clothes, swift horse and other special ritual offerings. Together with the sacred blessings of the ritual, it would effectively help to pacify all negative conditions and obstacles swiftly.
This puja also enables one to make offerings to repay our karmic debts of our past lives. Obstacles caused by demonic forces and evil spirits are removed immediately when this puja is performed. Black magic and evil spells are swiftly destroyed, and peace is restored immediately. It is most encouraged that patients who have been ill for a long time, including those who are in perpetual bad luck, or failed businesses should join in this puja.

During Buddha’s time, many negative forces which harmed sentient beings prevailed. Even though all fruition we face in this life is attributable to our own karma (accumulated from previous lifetimes), negative forces are catalysts which will bring about obstacles for us more quickly. This is one of the most powerful puja amongst various Buddhist rituals to subdue such formless obstacles. One procedure of this ritual is to consecrate and offer tormas (ritual cakes) to counterattack negative forces such as illnesses, mental disturbances, disputes, enmities, defilements, misfortune, premature death, factors against congenial surroundings and 84,000 bad forces. Hence, this puja is named ‘Dukar Thorthog’ in Tibetan, literally meaning - counterattacking negativities through torma offerings. The White Umbrella Goddess is an intrepid and fearless deity. Through her practice, one can prevent the influence of any evil magic or spirits, as well as the attack or harassment of the formless, and help increase fortune, wisdom and longevity.
