More about Rinpoche:
H.E. Khen Rinpoche was born in 1967 in Tsum Valley, Nepal. He became a monk at a local monastery at 7 years old, and was later enrolled into Gaden Shartse Monastery, South India when he was 13 years old in 1980. After years of intensive studies and completion of the six years of the major Gelug Examination, Rinpoche was awarded the highest title of Geshe Lharampa (equivalent to PhD) in 2000. In daily life, Rinpoche lives on a vegetarian diet and engage in fasting practices. Rinpoche is an excellent and skilful scholar who served as Buddhist Philosophy teacher in Gaden Shartse Monastery for more than 14 years. He also served as the monastery’s School Principle for 4 years from 2005-2008, it was during this role where GSDPL first collaborated and worked with Rinpoche to help improve the school and its conditions.

Rinpoche was elected as the top Abbot candidate who emerged with the highest votes by the Sangha community, and was subsequently approved and appointed as the 86th Abbot of Gaden Shartse Monastery by H.H. 14th Dalai Lama. The Abbot holds the greatest power in the monastery and oversees particularly the education of the Sangha community, in view of the noble goal to preserve the pure teachings of Buddhadharma for generations to come. Rinpoche has also completed meditation retreats on many yidam-deities. We are extremely excited to welcome Abbot H.E. Khen Rinpoche into Singapore! This will mark Rinpoche's first turning of the dharma wheel in Singapore.
